DAVAO CITY – A candidate from Kagan tribe bagged the Best in Talent award as the 10 Hiyas sa Kadayawan bets showcased their talents at the Gaisano Mall of Davao on August 15.

BEST IN TALENT. Despite a fall, judges and spectators were amazed with the astounding talent of Hannah Catucag, a Hiyas sa Kadayawan candidate representing the Kagan Tribe, as she manages to balance atop layers of Singkil dancers to win the Best in Talent during the pre-judging competition held at Gaisano Mall of Davao Wednesday night. “Nagpasalamat ko ug dako kay gihatag gyud siya sa Ginoo sa ako. Pressure man siya pero mao gyud ni akong talent sa pag sayaw,” Catucag said.
Catucag almost fell from the bamboos during her presentation, but she said “it was a plus factor and a recall” for her to win the Best in Talent title.
The runners-up for the best in talent are Ajema Malatus, 21, and Jean Ali, 18, from Maranao and Maguindanaon tribes, respectively.
“Sinisikapan ko pong gawin ito kasi wala po dito ang parents ko, nagtatrabaho po sila para po ako makapag-aral,” Ali said, adding that her parents are working abroad.
Also, Jehan Kartini Andan, 22, from Tausug tribe, won the Hiyas sa Mall title.
“Na-shock ko pagtawag sa akong pangalan (I was shocked when my name was called),” she said.
