THE celebration of Davao City’s founding anniversary will not be complete without choosing its muse.

This year’s Mutya ng Dabaw competition was held in partnership between the city through the Duaw Davao Festival Foundation and GMA Network, its strategic partner.

A total of five finalists were chosen from among the 12 semifinalists vying for the Mutya ng Dabaw 2012 title were picked on February 28 at the SM City Davao Event Centre.

They are as follows:

Dorothy Maruel Iba¤ez, 23, a nursing graduate of Ateneo de Davao University). Growing up along a brother with Down Syndrome, Dotty developed an attachment to children with special needs. She believes that these children share the same right to acceptance, understanding and quality education with any other Dabawenyo children.
