Araw security now at full throttle

IT’S all systems go for the celebration of the 75th Araw ng Dabaw after the local authorities presented their finalized plan in Davao City Peace and Order Council (DCPOC) Meeting at Public Safety Command Center (PSCC) Office Wednesday.

The Araw ng Dabaw is on March 16 and is usually celebrated for one week. Since Araw ng Dabaw is in its 75th anniversary, it is being celebrated the whole month. Read full story

Task forces created to ensure peaceful 'Araw ' festival

IN LINE with Davao City’s 75th Founding Anniversary, which is slated for the whole month of March, the newly assumed chief of the Task Force Davao (TFD) has created four core teams that will keep the city’s peace and security during the celebration.

Datu Bago awardees bared

THE official list of awardees for this year’s Datu Bago Awards has been announced, which include two educators and an entrepreneur.

Councilor Pilar Braga, vice chairperson of Datu Bago Foundation in a text message to Sun.Star Davao Wednesday said many have nominated for the award but only three made it to the final screening.

Braga refused to give the exact numbers of nominees.

Meet the 'Mutya' 12 semi-finalists

GMA Network, Inc., the City Government’s strategic partner for the creative execution of this year’s search for Mutya ng Dabaw, is all set for Monday’s Pre-Pageant and Talent Night, where five finalists will be chosen from among the 12 semi-finalists.

The event will be held at SM City Davao Event Center, starting at 5 p.m. and will be hosted by Kapuso actor Victor Aliwalas and Mutya ng Dabaw 2009 Resci Rizada.

Duaw Dabaw still looking for pledges, sponsorship

THE private partner of the Davao City government in organizing this year’s Araw ng Dabaw, which is set to handle most of the private sector initiated activities this year, admitted to have encountered difficulties in finding pledges and sponsorship across the country.

Lizette Marquez, festival director of Duaw Davao Festival Foundation Inc., recently told reporters that as of last week, they are still seeking pledges from companies across the country to finance various activities they will organize in time for the city’s 75th Founding Anniversary.

City, GMA partner for Mutya search

THE City Government of Davao, through Duaw Davao Festival Foundation, has partnered with GMA Network, Inc. in this year’s search for Mutya ng Dabaw in time for the city’s 75th Founding Anniversary on March 16.

Oliver Amoroso, assistant vice president for sales and marketing of GMA Regional TV, said the Kapuso Network was chosen by the city as its “strategic partner in the creative execution” of the annual beauty and brains search.

He said the network is elated to take the challenge of leveling up the prestigious search in time for the city’s Diamond Year.

“We will make this year’s Mutya ng Dabaw search the grandest, most entertaining and most impressive to date. This is our way of showing that we are fully committed to serve our regional audience by becoming a medium to showcase the beauty and positive spirit of the Dabawenyos to the world,” Amoroso said.
